About Dunedin

Dunedin's dramatic hills surround a long, natural harbour which, over the centuries, has attracted many settlers, particularly English and Scottish migrants.

Otago Stadium, Dunedin

Location: 2km from Dunedin City Centre
Capacity: 30,000
Address: Awatea Street, Dunedin

Otago Stadium is the newest sporting venue in the country and will be New Zealand’s first fully covered stadium.

Construction on the stadium began in June 2009 and was completed in August 2011 in time for Rugby World Cup 2011.

The stadium contains an all-weather roof, flexible seating layouts, 335 car parks, five lounges, four stands and 12 food and beverage outlets.

Flexible space in the East and West Stands with the ability to bring in temporary seats, means the stadium can tailor the layout for a variety of sports and events, making sure fans are always close to the action. For Rugby World Cup 2011 the capacity will be at 30,000.

The stadium is located just outside the city centre overlooking the Dunedin harbour, and sits alongside the beautiful University of Otago campus. It is a 40-minute drive from Dunedin airport or five minutes (2 km) from the CBD.
